Intermediate District 287 is looking for two Specialized Instructional Coaches!

 

Intermediate District 287 is a west metro district for learners with unique needs. As an intermediate district, we provide specialized services, primarily setting IV special education, to students from 12 member districts in the west metro - Brooklyn Center, Eden Prairie, Edina, Hopkins, Minnetonka, Orono, Osseo, Richfield, Robbinsdale, St. Louis Park, Wayzata, and Westonka.

 

What Makes Us Special:

  • We are a trauma-informed district. We take into account past trauma and the resulting coping mechanisms when attempting to understand behaviors and best serve our students.
  • There is a variety of support services in each school including School Social Workers, Psychologists, Counselors, Behavior Intervention Specialists and Student Safety Coaches. All of whom are student-centered and focused on building relationships with each child.
  • Small class sizes - typically 6-8 students per class.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary is based on the Local 2209 Licensed salary schedule

Requirements:

  • Experience in culturally responsive teaching/coaching
  • Racial Equity education and training
  • Experience implementing evidence-based special education, instructional and/or literacy practices in the classroom.
  • Prefer at least three (3) years experience in special education with an emphasis on cognitive or behavioral disabilities.
  • Character Requirement: In addition to the checking of references and of facts stated in the application, a thorough background investigation of each candidate may be made prior to appointment.

Licensure Requirements

  • Current MN teaching license in Special Education, or Core Academic Area (e.g. mathematics, science) or Reading
  • If no special education license, then a demonstrated willingness to obtain one within two years of appointment
